Last Friday we went to Dubai and just before the city there is a beautiful building that is the Falcon and Heritage Centre. It is not Wazza'z type of Falcon though - it is basically a big emporium of small falconry shops, like a cluster of pet shops. The falcons are just waiting on perches in their helmets.
They looked stuffed and then they move.
One store owner got talking to us, made us tea and let Chel handle one of his falcons. This one apparently used to be owned by the Sheik and was 60 000 dirham, not your average budgie. The female falcons are a lot bigger than the males and they are quite beautiful birds.
The shops had rows and rows of the little helmets they wear and another shop had embellished helmets for Falcon Mardi Gras.
The silver spikes I thought maybe were to put bad falcons on a rotisserie, but they have astro turf on the other side and are landing pads.
