Invasion of the Starbucks

The Oman border is only about 5 minutes away from us in Al Ain, but once you get into the guts of Oman, the country is completely different to the UAE.

Whilst in the 60’s and 70’s things such as bicycles, sunglasses and radios were outlawed so as to preserve Arabic and Islamic tradition, Oman now seems progressive and accepting, without losing its identity.

However, just like in the UAE, the proliferation of Starbucks is denser than a Big Brother housemate. They are everywhere!! This is a beach in Muscat that is being worked on and this Starbucks will have a pretty amazing location, to suck down a litre bucket of caramel latte frappe. Cos it's much better to stay in your box and pay 20 dirham for that than 3 dirham for a real arabic coffee.
