Ness's Devastation
From Today's 'The National' Newspaper
Sex and the City unlikely to be shown

It has entertained audiences around the world and made the Jimmy Choo label a household name.
In fact, since it was first broadcast on the American HBO network in 1998, Sex and the City has grown into a cultural phenomenon.
The television programme following the adventures of Carrie Bradshaw, played by Sarah Jessica Parker, and her three thirtysomething friends in New York has won praise for tackling issues socially relevant to Western women, which in turn has led to several Emmy and Golden Globe awards.
So the big-screen version, which has been touted as a conclusion to the series, has attracted a lot of interest among fans worldwide.
But now it appears that those in the UAE may not be able to see what all the fuss is about.
Tariq al Attar, head of the screening committee in the Dubai Censorship Office, said today he thought it was unlikely the film would be shown in the country.
“The television series is no longer distributed due to its content so it is unlikely to be shown here,” he said.
However, he added the film was not even on the list of films that were due to be watched by the National Medica Council over the next month as the distributors had not submitted any reels for review.
Although fans may be disappointed at the news, they could take heart from some of the reviews that have said the film is too long and too slow.
Although a reviewer for the New York Times noted the audience reaction at the screening he attended was “ecstatic”.
