Back on the Island again.... I spend about 3 days a week over here on Saadiyat. The contractors/gvnt are building the bridge from Abu Dhabi over to Saaidyat. Saadiyat is tipped to be the new centre of commerce etc as Abu Dhabi is overcrowded and badly planned. So hopefully if we can deal with life here, I'll be able to see my trees in 5 or 6 years when the island starts to be populated on a major scale. The golf courses are being constructed, then the hotels, the art galleries etc for tourism and then the office buildings will start to go up.
It's interesting seeing a city being built. At home this bridge would be an iconic government development akin to the Harbour Bridge or the Gateway perhaps, but here its one of 100's of structures being built. The fourth photo is another bridge. This ones probably as big as the Pyrmont bridge.
