Ski Dubai
Ski Dubai is in the Mall of the Emirates and is styled after a Swiss mountain resort. It covers an area about the size of three football fields and comes complete with chairlifts, five different runs (including the world's first indoor black run), and fake fir trees. The park's longest ski run is over 1200 feet.
The park also includes St. Moritz Cafe, where patrons can warm themselves on hot chocolate and cheese fondue, by the side of a romantic fake fire sizzling on a plasma TV.
In addition to skiing and boarding there is a twin track bobsled run where visitors can race each other and a ski school inside the park.
I don't know how Ski Dubai fits in with the new 'Green' construction policy being adopted in Dubai, when amount of C02 being pumped out nightly to produce the snow, is only adding to the warming and destruction of natural snow fields such as Whistler and Banff. But without me thinking too hard and getting on my high horse it is pretty amazing.
